The Bat pattern is a precision harmonic formation with a 0.886 XA retracement at point D. One of the deepest harmonic entries. The tight stop beyond D creates excellent risk:reward when the pattern completes.
- Identify XABCD structure with X-A bullish leg
- B point retraces to 0.382-0.500 of XA
- C point retraces to 0.382-0.886 of AB
- D point retraces to 0.886 of XA (key Bat level)
- CD leg extends to 1.618-2.618 of BC
- Enter long at D with confirmation candle (pin bar / engulfing)
- Stop: just below X (tight stop)
- Target 1: 0.382 retrace of AD (partial exit)
- Target 2: 0.618 retrace of AD (full exit)
- Inverted XABCD with X-A bearish leg
- Same Fib ratios apply to the inverted pattern
- Enter short at D with bearish confirmation candle
- Stop: above X
- Targets: 0.382 and 0.618 retrace of AD
- // Bat Pattern Fibonacci Ratios
- B at 0.382-0.500 of XA
- C at 0.382-0.886 of AB
- D at 0.886 of XA (defining ratio)
- CD = 1.618-2.618 of BC
The 0.886 D-point is what distinguishes the Bat from the Gartley (0.786). This deeper retracement makes the Bat's stop very tight (just beyond X), which is why it offers superior R:R. If D overshoots 0.886 significantly, the pattern is invalidated.
