Yes, in two ways. Paper Trading (Demo) is available on every paid plan. Test strategies against live market data with a simulated portfolio, no broker connection needed. The Starter plan is free forever and includes full backtesting against 10+ years of historical data. Paper-trade for as long as you want before connecting a live broker.

1 token = $0.10. Your monthly plan fee equals your included token allocation in dollars. Starter gets 300 tokens ($30 value), Pro gets 1,000 ($100), Elite gets 3,000 ($300), Scale gets 10,000 ($1,000). Spend them freely across AI generation, audio alerts, automated trades, lot volume, or backtest data. If you use less, tokens reset at cycle end. If you exceed, overage is billed at your tier's rates.

AI strategy generation: 1 token ($0.10). AI audio alert: 1 token ($0.10). Per automated trade signal: 5 tokens ($0.50). Per lot of volume: 5 tokens ($0.50). A typical 1-lot trade costs 10 tokens ($1.00) total. 5 for the trade signal + 5 for the lot. Scale tier gets 20% off all rates.

You stay online. Overage billing continues at your tier's rates. for example, Plus overage runs $0.10/token and appears on your next invoice, uninterrupted. You can also top up with a token pack anytime to lock in deeper discounts (the larger the pack, the cheaper per-token). Strategies never stop mid-trade due to token depletion.

Scale users commit $997/month, so they get 20% off all per-action rates as a volume benefit. Effectively their 10,000 tokens have $1,250 in spending power. Other paid tiers use flat rates. Upgrading from Active to Pro is about features and token allocation, not unit economics.

Backtest data is priced by chart timeframe. denser data costs more. Range: $0.01/yr (1-week+) to $6.00/yr (1-minute). Formula: markets × years × rate. Example: 5 years of 1-hour data on 10 markets = 10 × 5 × $0.20 = $10.00 (100 tokens). You always have access to 10+ years of data across 1,000+ markets. Pay only for what you pull.

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing so you don't pay twice for the same period. Your new tokens and features unlock instantly. Downgrades apply at your next billing cycle, preserving the features and tokens you've already paid for. You can also drop back to pay-as-you-go Starter at any time.

No. Your automated strategies run in managed cloud infrastructure, not on your local machine. Close your laptop, go on vacation. Executions continue 24/7. This is a meaningful difference from MetaTrader and NinjaTrader, which traditionally require either your computer running continuously or a separately rented VPS ($30–80/month). That infrastructure cost is already included in every AlgoBars plan.
